Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”
