Comedian and author David Walliams lost his contract with longtime publisher.

The comedian

Acclaimed writer for children and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his longtime publishing house, as confirmed by the firm.

An official for the publisher stated: "Following a thorough review, and with the guidance of its fresh leadership, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing additional books by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the move was taken subsequent to an inquiry regarding allegations of conduct deemed unsuitable involving young women.

The company did not confirm the motivations for this action, stating: "It is not our policy to discuss private personnel issues."

A Prolific Writing Journey

Walliams stands as a most prolific writers for young readers, boasting over more than 60 million copies internationally in 55 languages.

His first children's book, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins back in 2008.

A number of his books, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have also been adapted into television films.

His bibliography includes in excess of 40 works in total, which features a festive story titled *Santa & Son*, which was published by HarperCollins in October.

A Dual Career

He first rose to fame on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE several years ago honoring his contributions to charity and the arts.

The publisher's decision comes after the selection of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive in October.
