Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the early candidates under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend following the squad's ten-game winless beginning to the top-flight season.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have historic associations to the club - are part of the names to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton Town manager - who made over a century of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is considered a leading contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the club directors as they begin the process of hiring a new manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a shock choice given he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed which means the club would not need to pay any compensation.
